Farewell Message from Lina Park

Farewell Message from the Executive Director
FAREWELL AND THANK YOU

Dear Partners and Friends,

After four wonderful years as the Executive Director of the Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco, I’ve decided to step down due to a health diagnosis that has made me pause and reevaluate my priorities.

I came into this role with a vision to build a collaborative, caring, and giving community – one that breaks barriers of language, generational gaps, socioeconomic status, or position.

To our nonprofit partners and community leaders, thank you for believing in this vision. We came together as nonprofit and community leaders in our broken English and Korean (Konglish!) as we worked toward breaking down those barriers, bringing voice to Korean Americans, and empowering our low-income, immigrant, and vulnerable communities. Through the Bay Area K-Coalition, we mobilized with a purpose to serve our community together. We connected, collaborated, and supported one another during one of the most difficult years for many of us.

To our incredible supporters and volunteers, thank you for generously giving your time and resources.  Through the hard work and dedication of our Founders, Board of Directors, small but mighty staff, and all of you, we distributed more than $2 million and over 80 grants in the past seven years to address critical needs, drive change, and build the capacity of our nonprofit partners. I leave with confidence and excitement of not only all that we've accomplished but all that is yet to come for KACF-SF.

While my last official day as the Executive Director is today, I will continue to work with the Board and Search Committee to find the next Executive Director.  In addition, Grace Lee, KACF-SF's Director of Programs, will step into the Interim Executive Director role.

What I learned and will continue to cherish is what we have been able to achieve together.  It wasn’t the work of one or even a few.  It was the work of all of us who believed in the mission, rolled up our sleeves, stepped outside of our comfort zone, and took chances to bring us to where we are today.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you and for carrying on the vision of what our Korean American community can become in the Bay Area.  I will continue to be a staunch supporter of KACF-SF's mission, work, and community.

With gratitude,

Lina Park
