Yul Kwon

Yul’s career spans technology, law and public policy, small business, and media. In the private sector, Yul has held positions at Facebook (where he is Director of Product Management and former Deputy Chief Privacy Officer), Google, McKinsey, Venture Law Group, and Harris, Wiltshire & Grannis.  He also owned and operated a series of retail stores as the Northern California developer for Red Mango frozen yogurt. In the public sector, Yul's government experiences include serving as Deputy Chief of the FCC's Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau, an adjunct instructor at the FBI Academy, a legislative counsel in the U.S Senate, and a judicial clerk in the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals.

On television, Yul hosted the PBS series, America Revealed, and anchored KCETLink’s weekly news program, LinkAsia, from 2011-2013. He’s also hosted documentaries for the Discovery Channel and the Smithsonian Channel, worked as a special correspondent on CNN, and competed on the CBS reality show, Survivor, where he became the series’ first Asian American winner in 2006.

Yul is active in a wide range of charities, particularly those seeking to increase the number of Asian American bone marrow donors. He co-founded the Council of Korean Americans and sits on the advisory board of Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC and LA).

Yul has been profiled in VIBE Magazine's annual Juice issue of people with power, People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive issue, and Entrepreneur Magazine.  He received his B.S. in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he served on the editorial board of the Yale Law Journal.
