Happy (Lunar) New Year!
Wishing you and your loved ones good health
and good fortune in the Year of the Ox.

While it's already the end of January (can you believe it?!), the Lunar New Year - or Seollal (설날) in Korean - falls on February 12 this year. Seollal is traditionally a time for families to gather and pay their respects to their ancestors. Some of the many customs include bowing to elders, playing yutnori (윷놀이), and eating tteokguk (떡국).

Even though holidays look very different right now because of Covid, we hope that you are able to take the time to connect with family and loved ones through phone or video calls.

LEARN ABOUT OUR 2021 GRANTEE PARTNERS

KACF-SF aims to build a healthy and empowered Bay Area Korean American community by supporting organizations that directly address the needs of under-resourced individuals and families.

This year, we are proud to invest in over 10 community-based nonprofits through our grantmaking programs. These organizations work to increase access to culturally appropriate mental health services, advocate for survivors of domestic violence, provide education and social service navigation services in Korean, and much more. OUR COMMUNITY'S COVID RESPONSE
Thanks to your generosity, KACF-SF gave out over $500,000 in grants in 2020 to support the greatest needs in the Korean American community. Your dollars have allowed us and our nonprofit partners to provide assistance to those facing devastating challenges including housing loss, unemployment, and food insecurity. The above graphic captures just some of the work that we and our nonprofit partners were able to accomplish together.

The need is still great. Low-income Korean Americans have been among the hardest hit during the Covid-19 pandemic. Your contributions will support our efforts to expand access to culturally competent mental health services, legal assistance, food delivery, and other critical social services.
