Our Stand Against Hate

Our Stand Against Hate

“Racially motivated violence should be called out for exactly what it is — and we must stop making excuses or rebranding it as economic anxiety or sexual addiction.”

- Marilyn Strickland, US Representative, Washington
We are heartbroken, angry, frustrated, and frightened over Tuesday's senseless attack on eight individuals, six of whom were Asian and four of whom were Korean women. Sadly, we are not surprised.

We mourn the victims, and we wish their families and communities peace and justice.

As incidents of violence against Asian Americans continue to rise, we call on our elected leaders and those serving our cities and our country, to take meaningful action against hate crimes through legislation by working with community-centered organizations to find solutions that bring safety instead of fear for the most vulnerable in our communities.

We at KACF-SF unequivocally reject all acts of violence, discrimination, and hate, including all forms of racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and anti-religious sentiment. We must stand against divisiveness and stand together in this moment.

Finally, we urge everyone to take constructive actions to help alleviate this crisis. We offer some suggestions below:
Grieve and Reflect
  • Check in on yourself and with your friends. Take care of each other.
  • For those in need of additional support, consider seeking culturally sensitive behavioral health services via AACI or your preferred service provider. For Korean-speaking support through AACI, email jenny.lee@aaci.org.

“We should never be outraged by violence only targeting those who look like us. Hate comes in many forms.”
