2019 Grantee Partners will be announced in December.

Since 2014, KACF-SF has awarded over $1.1 Million to nonprofit organizations addressing critical needs of underserved Korean Americans in the areas of health and mental health, senior care and resources, domestic violence, and civic engagement.  We also have a unique community-based participatory grantmaking process where volunteers with diverse personal and professional experiences read grant proposals, conduct site visits, and make funding recommendations to a Board committee. Through this Community Grantmaking Committee (CGC), the Foundation develops a cohort of educated and engaged community volunteers, activists and strategic philanthropists.

Make an impact in addressing the needs of our community.  Join the CGC! To learn more or volunteer, e-mail us at info@kacfsf.org.

Serving Our Senior Community Through Tech Workshops

The 2018 Community Conference & Solve-a-thon resulted in a winning idea that brings tech workshops to elders to build skills around technology and increase their engagement with family and the wider community.  The workshops were also used as an opportunity to talk about depression and mental health without fear or stigma.

KACF-SF staff and volunteers converged in SF on Saturday, April 13th, at Korean American Senior Services, Inc. (KASSI).  There were 18 trainers and volunteers and over 50 seniors. With lessons learned, we conducted a second workshop at Korean Community Center of the East Bay (KCCEB) on June 5th.  There were 2 trainers, 7 volunteers, and almost 20 seniors packed into a conference space.

The feedback we’ve received is that our elders need and want these types of training to learn how to navigate their personal technology and reiterate skills learned.  We hope to support our partners in ongoing efforts to support senior tech workshops!

Ensuring Everyone Is Counted for 2020 Census

The Census is vital to ensure that our community is accounted for in determination of state and federal funding, apportionment of congressional seats, and decision-making around where new businesses are supported.

KACF-SF will be hosting a convening of Korean/Korean American-serving organizations in the Fall of 2019 to further educate, strategize, train, and network regarding the 2020 Census.

As our community struggles with how inclusion of the citizenship question and a largely digital effort will impact participation in the 2020 Census, it is even more pivotal to come together as one community.  KACF-SF will assume a convening role and resource efforts to make sure every Korean American is counted in the 2020 Census.
