Explore the little-known history of the early Korean immigrant community in the Bay Area through this exhibit presented by the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.

As Japan rose to power in Korea in the early 1900s, Koreans from diverse backgrounds fled their country and landed in San Francisco. San Francisco Beginnings is a rare glimpse into the lives of these early immigrants, their community and their legacies.

This exhibition is sponsored in part by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korean in San Francisco and the Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco.
