HOW TO COMPLETE THE CENSUS

1. Locate your Census mailer with your unique Census ID number2. Go to m y2020census.gov and fill out the survey - it takes less than 10 minutes*If you didn't receive a Census mailer, you can still go to m y2020census.gov and answer a few additional questions.NOTE: The real U.S. Census will never ask for your social security number, bank or credit card account number, money or donations, and does not mention any political parties. EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM BEING COUNTED

The US Census is a national headcount that happens once every ten years. Census data helps the government decide how to distribute billions of dollars in federal funding for a wide range of social services, including housing, healthcare, and education. It is also used to calculate the number of congressional seats in each state, and to draw congressional boundaries. Local businesses and community organizations rely on census information to decide where to open new businesses and what services to offer.In the Bay Area, the Korean/Korean American community faces challenges such as high poverty rates, physical and mental health needs, and a sizeable elderly population. An undercount in the 2020 Census means that our community will miss out on critical dollars over the next decade to support these vulnerable populations.We need your help to get all Korean and Korean Americans civically engaged![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=".vc_custom_1576535869305{padding-left: 25px !important;}"]

2020 CENSUS GRANTEE PARTNERS

Asian Health Services (AHS) provides access to affordable and comprehensive health care for mostly immigrant and refugee Asian communities in the East Bay. Their “Census 2020: Counting all Koreans/Korean-Americans” project will use a train-the-trainer model to mobilize and empower patient advocates to take census materials and information back to their communities. AHS will also conduct Korean-American-specific census workshops and conduct outreach and engagement at community fairs. The Korean American Coalition promotes the civic and civil rights interests of the Korean American community through education, community organizing, leadership development, and coalition-building with diverse communities. The KACF-SF census grant will support the creation of Korean-language census videos that will be aired on prominent Korean language news and media sites in the US. Korea Daily Times is an internet-based media agency in Silicon Valley covering news related to the Korean American community. KACF-SF's census grant supports the production of a series of Korean-language educational videos about the importance of the census. The videos will be shared with other Korean American media agencies to reach a wider audience. The mission of the Korean American Community Center of San Francisco & Bay Area is to bridge the cultural gap between Korean Americans and other ethnic communities in SF and Bay Area through educating the public about the Korean culture and diverse programs. The census grant will support their efforts to provide outreach and education to organizations and congregations within the Korean American community. Korean American Community Services of Silicon Valley (KACS) is the largest community-based non-profit organization serving Korean Americans in the South Bay, primarily serving the elderly, low-income families and individuals, recent immigrants and youth. For 2020 Census, KACS will design and disseminate a printed and online calendar that includes key dates related to the census, as well as other community resources. In addition, KACS will hold various outreach events, workshops and door-to-door canvassing during which the census calendar will be distributed. The Korean American Cultural Foundation’s mission is to introduce and pass down Korea’s cultures and traditions and bring first and second generation of immigrants together. The Korean American Cultural Foundation will promote the census and distribute census-related materials during their cultural events during, as well as lead various census outreach efforts within the Bay AreaKorean American immigrant community. Korean American Professional Society (KAPS) is a nonprofit organization devoted to the professional and social development of Korean Americans in the San Francisco Bay Area by providing a forum for networking, community service, political awareness, social and professional development. KAPS will organize a census awareness seminar for their members and hold follow-up events to encourage KAPS members to complete the census forms. Korean American Senior Citizens League of Santa Clara County (KASCL) helps keep Korean American seniors healthy and active by providing weekday lunches, exercise and enrichment classes, social service counseling, and citizenship preparation. KACF-SF census grant will support their efforts in educating Korean American seniors on the importance of participating in the census as well as providing assistance in filling out the form through mobilization of volunteers. Korean Community Center of the East Bay (KCCEB) empowers the Korean and other immigrant communities in the Bay Area through education, advocacy, services, and the development of community-based resources. KCCEB’s Korean American senior “Jikimee” leaders will be trained as census ambassadors to provide information and assistance at community events. KCCEB will also launch a Census Questionnaire Assistance Center and provide mobile assistance on filling out the census form. The San Francisco Museum of Korea is dedicated to collecting and organizing data on immigration history of Korean American community, as well as sharing the stories of immigration history and culture to the public. For the 2020 Census, the Museum will promote the census and distribute census-related materials at public events and organize a media campaign where posters and census related resources will be shared within the community. Sacramento Region Community Foundation provides philanthropic services by managing the charitable giving of donors in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties and was selected by the State to serve as the Administrative Community Based organization for the wide-reaching Region One. The Foundation will award mini census grants to non-profits and faith-based organizations conducting outreach to the hard-to-reach Korean American population in Region 1 as well as sharing existing census information and resources. Sacramento Valley Korean American Community serves the Korean American community in the Sacramento Valley area by providing volunteer services such as civil and consular services and hosting workshops and cultural events. In support of Census 2020, the community association will organize a census convening for the Korean Americans in the Sacramento Valley and produce banners promoting census participation to distribute to churches and Korean American organizations.
