Participatory Grantmaking

Our fierce 2019 CGC cohort!

KACF-SF uses a participatory grantmaking model. Each year, we invite interested community members to join our Community Grants Committee (CGC). CGC members learn about issues affecting the Korean American community and grassroots solutions, as well as apply their expertise and professional and personal experiences to helping the foundation invest in our community. Following comprehensive training, and under the close guidance of KACF-SF staff, CGC member review grant proposals, conduct site visits, and make funding recommendations to the Board. Through the CGC, the foundation develops a cohort of educated and engaged community volunteers, activists and strategic philanthropists.

Read what several members of our past CGC members had to say about their experiences here.
