We are thrilled to announce our esteemed honorees for our 7th Annual Gala! These Korean American movers and shakers have shown us what it means to SPEAK UP and DRIVE CHANGE.
Eric Kim is Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Goodwater Capital, a global venture capital firm that has grown to over $5 Billion in assets since its inception in 2014. Eric has been actively involved with several multi-billion dollar outcomes as an early investor and board director of leading internet platforms such as Kakao, Coupang and Everly Health. In addition to being a visionary entrepreneur and investor, Eric is deeply committed to social justice initiatives and the #StopAsianHate movement, often speaking at community rallies and helping to lead fundraising initiatives. Eric currently serves on the nonprofit boards of CollegeTrack and the Asian Pacific Fund while also volunteering as a Co-Organizer of Stand with Asian Americans (SwAA). KACF-SF is proud to recognize Eric's leadership in business, social justice and philanthropy.
Min Jin Lee is a recipient of fiction fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study at Harvard, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. She is the author of novels, Free Food for Millionaires and Pachinko, a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction and a New York Times 10 Best Books. Her writings have appeared in numerous publications, including The New Yorker and The New York Times. Her work embraces Korean and Korean American topics, and she has been a vocal advocate for Asian Americans (check out her Twitter). We are grateful to Min Jin for speaking out so insightfully and incisively on the multidimensionality of the Asian American experience and are proud to honor her contributions to literature.
David Chang is the founder of Momofuku and Majordomo Media and has been recognized as GQ’s Man of the Year and a Time 100 honoree. He is the host of The Dave Chang Show podcast and three documentary series, Ugly Delicious, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, and The Next Thing You Eat. His cookbooks and memoir are New York Times bestsellers. As he's built up a world-renowned restaurant and media empire, he's never been shy about pushing back against conventions and cultural stereotypes, in the kitchen and beyond. Thank you, David, for using your platform to speak out and break down barriers - a true trailblazer!
