A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined the April 3rd Virtual Vigil to honor the victims of the Atlanta shooting. The show of solidarity and outpouring of shared emotions was a source of comfort during these uncertain times. Some highlights from our evening of healing: We shared messages of hope and affirmation from elected officials including San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Congressmembers Marilyn Strickland and Andy Kim, and CA Assemblymembers David Chiu and Phil Ting. We grieved collectively to Sreymom In's beautiful rendition of a Khmer mourning song and saw our emotions and experiences reflected in Lauren Ito's poetry.  Working in an interactive process, artist Kiona Medina created a mixed-media painting that encapsulated audience response to the prompt: "What is your vision for community healing?" Healer Lillian So held a safe space for our community and reminded us that "liberation is bound in togetherness". Community leaders from AACI Asian Women’s Home, APA Heritage Foundation, Asian Pacific American Community Center, Center for Empowering Refugees and Immigrants, and Korean Community Center of the East Bay engaged in a discussion about the importance of our collective effort in addressing the pressing issues facing AAPI communities. Tuesday, April 20 at 12pm PT   Hosted by CKA and KAC-LA, this free summit is designed to engage college students, recent graduates, and young professionals with a discussion on DEI and its relevance to the national discourse on race relations and anti-Asian sentiment.  BTS and Beyond Tuesday, April 20 at 6pm PT   In this live discussion co-hosted by Asia Society Southern California and Asia Society Korea, distinguished panelists share their thoughts on the success of global K-pop superstars like BTS and Blackpink and the expanding influence of South Korean soft power.
